چکیده
This paper presents engineering geological investigation results in the form of rock mass characteristics for tunnel number 1 Sigli-Aceh toll road. The was carried out through mapping, core drill evaluation, and laboratory tests. In this research, rating (RMR) Geological Strength Index (GSI) were applied classifications. measurement quality is then used to determine excavation method support system on SigliAceh showed that research location consisted calcareous sandstone with poor good-quality (GSI (21.7 - 85.5), RMR (32.0 67.6)), good (86.3 86.9), (64.0 65.0)). masses mainly caused by weathering effect. addition, also analyzes relationship between GSI based type rocks so correlation can be other areas similar location.

Rock Mass Characterization for Diversion Tunnels at Diamer Basha Dam, Pakistan – a design perspective
This research work presents a case study of rock mass characterization on diversion tunnels at Diamer Basha Dam, Pakistan. Geological and geotechnical studies were performed to characterize the rock mass along the axis of diversion tunnel. The core specimens retrieved were tested in laboratory and physical and mechanical properties of the rock mass were determined. Detailed discontinuity survey...
متن کاملApplication of Schmidt rebound number for estimating rock strength under specific geological conditions
A literature review revealed that most of the empirical equations introduced for determination of the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of rocks based on the Schmidt hammer rebound number (N) are not sufficiently reliable mostly due to the relatively low coefficient of correlations. This is attributed to the fact that in most cases one formula is used for all types of rocks, altho...

The Chamshir water conveyance tunnel (CWCT) with a length of 7.4 km and boring diameter of 5.3 m is excavated using a refurbished single shield TBM, initially designed to work in hard rock formations. This study focuses on engineering geological issues, which are important for checking the suitability of this machine and proposing required modifications for improving its performance in soft roc...

متن کاملA Preliminary Assessment of Rock Slope Stability in Tropical Climates: A Case Study at Lafarge Quarry, Perak, Malaysia
The stability analysis of rock slopes is a complex task for the geotechnical engineers due to the complex nature of the rock mass in a tropical climate that often has discontinuities in several forms, and consequently, in several types of slope failures. In this work, a rock mass classification scheme is followed in a tropical environment using the Rock Mass Rating (RMR) and Geological St...
